Little Life

Oh. My. Word.
My cousin was born this morning and I got to be apart of it!
My mom got the call around eight and Amy and I decided to go!
Three hours of travel and what seemed like a MILLION AND FIVE minutes in the waiting room, the newest addition to the family!

Getting to be apart of this special moment was so awesome!

So, welcome to the world Noah Orion Cook! I love you already!

Single Sentence Sunday!

This is my first single sentence sunday, but hopefully there will be lots more to come! God is teaching me so much right now, but this keeps coming back up.

"Anger stifles the senses and prevents clear thinking, patience is a flood of understanding and a breath of fresh air."

Homemade

The picture looked great. The loaves were golden brown and perfectly shaped. It seemed like the perfect cure for boredom this Saturday afternoon. So I started to heat the water. Then I added yeast and a myriad of other ingredients to complete the dough. Once I had my dough ready I kneaded it and then left it to rise.
That was the beginning of the end. Over the next two hours my hopes to make Wholesome Wheat Bread came to an end. ...I would post a picture of my humble attempt, but both of my loaves ended up taking a vacation to our garbage can. Thankfully enough, I'm not the one responsible for our design...

Psalm 139:13
For you created my inmost being,
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
God created all of us, and he spent time on each of us. He handcrafted every part of us, and we are the crowning achievement of His creation. He didn't make mistakes. I'm sure if He made Wholesome Wheat Bread, He could do it without the recipe because that is just how experienced and awesome He is. I told all of you my baking story because it showed me just how impossible it would be for me to create like God does .It's cool to know that Perfection designed all of us, and we are all, in a word, homemade.

Mesmerized

Have you ever stopped to stare up at the sky? Sometimes really bad neck cramps follow, but it's always worth it. The crystal blue blanket and perfect puffy clouds are mystifying, and I can't help but stop and stare.

I'm not the only one who stares at the sky though,
"And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, behold, two men in white clothing stood beside them.
They also said, 'Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.'"
Acts 1:9-11
These Christ followers were stunned. And who can blame them? This event was like nothing they expected to happen, and afterward they had no idea what to do other than stare. It is in this moment of enchantment that they are awakened to their purpose. They leave and go to 'the upper room.' Here they pray and then recieve the Holy Spirit. Then they began to preach and many were saved.

These guys were forever changed. However, their purpose wasn't revealed until they began to act(this is the book of acts after all).
God has big plans for our lives, but we can't reach them unless we make a choice to move. We can stare at the sky all day, but in the end the decision to look in front of us will make all of the difference.

Rainy Mondays

I absolutely love the rain. I love to dance in it, jump in the puddles, and throw mud at people. ...Well actually I don't throw mud at people, but the rest of that was true.

Rain is a reminder of so many things. When it rains, I think of God's promises not to flood the Earth, and to love all of us unconditionally. The rain completely washes away the impurities and makes the ground ready to be planted. Rain loosens up even the hardest surface, just like God's love can break through even the hardest heart.

Psalm 51:10                                                                                Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
As the Earth is getting cleaned up today, we should make it our prayer that God would clean us up too.

So Long!
I'm off to start jumping in those puddles.

Go Cougars!

The time has finally come!
I know it's big...
Yesterday, I bought my first ever CofC t-shirt!
:) How exciting is that?
College still seems far away, but it was cool to be walking around downtown displaying my cougar pride along with fifty million other people!
